This list is to give you an idea of what to look out for. But nature is full of surprises! It is very important to pay close attention to what you find in the real world and make your own observations, even if you see something that is not on this list or that you weren't expecting to find.

  • Birdsong: A robin or blackbird singing from a nearby tree.
  • Rustling: The wind blowing through the leaves overhead.
  • Snapping: A twig breaking under an animal's foot (or your own!).
  • Buzzing: A fly or bee flying past your ear.
  • Human sounds: Traffic rumbling in the distance or an airplane flying high above.
  • Water: A stream trickling or a duck splashing in a pond.
