Sequoia sempervirens
means “the ever-green Sequoia”

Its second name, sempervirens, means 'ever-green' — and this giant, one of the tallest trees on Earth, truly is evergreen all year round. Where the first name, Sequoia, comes from is a puzzle no one has ever solved.
